You’re bound to make your own discoveries along the way, so if you can, meander around and make your own special memories.

Additionally, a hire car gives you freedom when visiting family and friends. You have the flexibility to come and go as you please while also having a place to store the essentials such as kids’ jumpers. The open road is yours for the taking.

After picking up your holiday hire car, we’re heading south to Mount Tamborine, about an hour’s drive south of Brisbane.

The name “Tamborine” comes from the Yugambeh language. It means “wild lime”, after the finger lime trees found in the region. There’s so much to do here. Visiting in a family hire car makes the most sense as you can pack all the extra clothing, boots and accessories you’ll need for your trip.

It’s a popular hotspot for those who like hanging out in the modern cafés and boutique-style shops that line the main street. Organic produce grown nearby features prominently, especially the famous Byron Bay coffee beans.

It’s a 10-minute drive to the town of Newrybar about halfway between Lennox Head and Byron Bay. Newrybar is the epitome of charm. Steeped in history, it’s famous for its bakery and deli. The sourdough bread is legendary. Afterwards take a dip at Killen Falls, a little further south.
